Natural skincare is rich in different types of vegetable oils. You can see a lot of precious botanical oils or even flower or herb-infused oils in various skincare products. In fact, natural ( with no solvents) cold pressed oils are a big trend at the moment. Is this only a beauty trend or a real youth elixir for your skin? Let’s find out.
First of all, vegetable oils are perfect moisturizing agents. Moisturizing agents are one of the cosmeceuticals ( combination of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals). Moisturizing agents are used in skincare to moisturize the skin ( the word itself says that), but also it is created on purpose to lock in the moisture, preventing the skin from getting dry.
The main function of vegetable oils is being occlusive agents. They lock in moisture creating an occlusive layer on your skin, so we can say that they protect hydration of our skin when we apply them.Could vegetable oils improve our skin’s overall appearance? Absolutely yes. As we read they help to keep skin hydrated and provide it with a moisture. As a result, we have smooth, hydrated, plump skin. Our skin with an age becomes dryer and we know that when skin gets dry wrinkles shows up, too! Having a goal of perfect and young looking skin, first, we need to keep attention to skin’s barrier function. And of course, moisturizing agents, especially occlusive agents are step number one towards healthy skin appearance. You need only some drops of oil or a mix of oils, usually, we find them with a pump or in a bottle with pipette. So after applying some drops of moisturizing vegetable oils, we massage it into our facial skin with rotating movements upwards.
Precious vegetable oils provide anti-aging properties for the skin, having in them flavonoids or tocopherols. In our laboratory, we are always researching precious and rare perfect-aging oils and we will share our findings with you in the next posts.
